Internship landed 2019 graduate in the right place at the right time

Before Dylan Bartel ’19 walked across the stage at his graduation ceremony, he knew he soon would be working at a job and a company he loved.

Bartel, a Milford native and Trumbull resident, majored in finance with a minor in business analytics at Sacred Heart University and made sure to take advantage of every opportunity that came his way.

Bartel applied and was accepted to all three of his top college picks. He decided on SHU because he knew it was a growing school. “Sacred Heart gave me a lot of resources and the mindset to be a go-getter,” he said.

Through SHU’s Center for Career & Professional Development, Bartel found internships that helped him to narrow down his career options. His first internship was at an accounting firm, and later he interned in Bic’s sales department.

In March of 2019, he interned at Datto, Inc., a Trumbull company that provides cloud-based software and technology delivered by managed service providers. “I really fell in love with it,” said Bartel, who works at Datto as a sales development representative selling technology.

Bartel said Sacred Heart’s professors prepared him for job success, and he is happy with the education and opportunities he received.
