Kate AudetteKate Warren Barnes is a changemaker with a deep commitment to children and families, community, equity and civic engagement.

For more than 15 years, Kate has served as a result-driven social worker and government affairs professional focused on health and wellbeing. Skilled in policy analysis and grassroots organizing, Kate has a passion for the promotion of intersectional advocacy and movement building that amplifies the voices of those with lived experiences. To that end, Kate’s research interests involve the exploration of community-based participatory research and emancipatory research methods that promote the reimagining of the health care and child welfare system.

In service to the social work profession, Kate has served for a decade as a professor who partners with students on their academic journey to educate and mentor the next generation for social work leaders. In service to her community, Kate serves as a licensed foster provider and volunteers on several nonprofit boards, including the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Massachusetts and Project Bread, a nonprofit working to end hunger.

Kate strives to balance work, academics and community service with soul care that includes exploring different health and wellness practices, traveling, vegan baking and cheering on the New England Patriots.
