Admission Requirements

The Post-Master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice program has one start term per year, in the fall semester. Fall 2026 applications are now open.

• Online application
• Non-refundable application fee
• Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
• Master's degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited university with minimum 3.0 GPA
• Copy of current unencumbered U.S. RN licensure in your home state and a copy of any other state licensure or certifications
• One page statement on why you wish to pursue a practice doctorate
• Resume
• Two letters of recommendation

Sacred Heart University accepts up to six transfer credits for this program with University approval. An undergraduate or graduate statistics course taken within six years of admission is strongly recommended.

Most application materials can be uploaded in the application portal once the initial application is submitted. Transcripts can be sent to Graduate Admissions either electronically (preferred method) to gradstudies@sacredheart.edu or by mail to:
