Additional Costs
As a clinical education program, the nursing program requires some expenses that go beyond standard university tuition and fees:
Clinical Education Travel
Students participate in off-campus clinical rotations each semester. These rotations generally require travel two to three times per week. Students are responsible for arranging their own transportation.

Immunizations & Physical
Immunizations
All students must have documentation of immunization and/or titer affirmation of immunity for common diseases included but not limited to: Varicella, MMR, TB, TDaP, HepB and influenza. These must be documented prior to the start of clinical experiences and must be maintained throughout the program.

Physical
Students are required to have an annual physical.

Complio
The Davis & Henley College of Nursing uses Complio to provide background checks, drug screenings and tracking of clinical health compliance requirements. All students must enroll in and activate a Complio account and cover the costs for the background check, drug test and compliance tracker.
- Cost – $125 each fall semester
CPR Certification
All students must be CPR certified prior to beginning the nursing program and must be maintained throughout the program. The only two types of in-person CPR certifications that are acceptable are the American Heart Association (AHA) - Healthcare Professional CPR Basic Life Support (BLS provider) or the American Red Cross (ARC) - Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.

Clinical Uniform
All students are responsible for purchasing and maintaining the SHU AS Nursing-approved uniform. This approved uniform can be purchased via the University’s bookstore.

Lab Fees
Clinical laboratory fees are attached to courses that involve laboratory activities, simulation, or practical exams. These fees are used to offset expenses associated with these learning activities.
- Cost – $150/course
Assessment Fee
Assessment fees are levied on all major nursing courses throughout the program of study. Students receive supplemental and remedial study materials in addition to individual feedback on tests and recommendations for improvement. Senior nursing students will be required to participate in an NCLEX review course toward the end of the final semester.
- Cost – $700/course
