Coming into college, I knew music was a passion of mine that I wanted to continue to pursue. Studying music at Sacred Heart allowed me to expand my knowledge of music theory and history, as well as meet people with similar passions and interests in addition to playing with the orchestra here! As a prospective social studies teacher, incorporating music and its history into my career is important to me. I chose to minor in music at Sacred Heart to expand my knowledge of the history, language and performance aspects of music. Studying music at SHU has enabled me to keep growing and exploring something that has meant so much to me. ~ Nick Iasparra '22

My main factors in choosing Sacred Heart were the band programs and music performance minor. These programs gave me a deeper understanding of musical theory, history and performance, and allowed me to learn and perform on different instruments. Today, the education I gained at SHU continually helps me as an amateur musician and professional educator. Sharing different genres and peeling back musical layers and historical meanings adds a lively flare to my curriculum, and has a positive and inspirational impact in my classroom.
