Career Outlook

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts employment in the human resource field to grow in the next decade. Money magazine and Salary.com surveys predict a growth of 32,000 (new) annual positions, and they rate human resource management as one of the top five professions in the U.S. for salary and job prospects.

Professionals with undergraduate and graduate coursework in human resources will be best situated to meet this expanding market. Our curriculum includes and goes beyond the traditional areas of human resource study by offering students the opportunity to develop business skills in strategic planning, analysis and finance, and enabling them to fully seize the opportunity of this growing demand.

Become a SHRM Certified Professional

SHU has aligned its HR management minor curriculum with that of the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), opening up new opportunities for interested students to take the exam to become a SHRM certified professional (SHRM-CP). The SHRM curriculum defines the minimum content areas HR students should study at the undergraduate and graduate levels and is part of SHRM’s academic initiative to define HR education standards taught in university business schools.
