Application Deadline: January 15 of the candidate’s sophomore year

All application materials listed below must be received by Graduate Admissions to be eligible for an interview and to take Education courses.

  • Complete the online Graduate Application
  • Official transcript(s) from all colleges and universities previously attended, and an unofficial copy of your SHU transcript (available as a PDF download via SPA)
  • Signed Statement of Understanding
  • Signed Essential Functions Document (linked in your applicant portal)
  • Praxis Core Academic Skills score report (test number 5752)
    • Effective July 1, 2016 a satisfactory score on the Praxis Core Academic Skills exam is no longer required for admission to teacher education programs. However, Sacred Heart requires that applicants take the exam or equivalent waiver exam. An SAT or ACT score report can be submitted in lieu of the Praxis Core score report with no required minimum score.  Visit the PRAXIS Core Academic Skills exam site for exam details and information on how to register for the exam.

Applicants will be invited to interview between late January and early February, once their application materials are submitted.

Students applying to the Farrington College of Education & Human Development Five-Year Program must meet the required 2.8 undergraduate cumulative GPA to be considered for admission. If you are an Interdisciplinary Studies major and do not gain admission to the five-year education program, you must choose another major.
