In the 30-credit Master of Business Analytics & Applied AI program, you will learn the iterative, methodical process of exploring an organization’s data, with an emphasis on statistical analysis. The MSBAAI program at SHU is the only program in Connecticut that offers an opportunity to intern with a company. Companies that have hosted an intern include:

Full-time working students can work on an actual problem within a company to earn credits.
The first program in the state to incorporate artificial intelligence in the curriculum. An understanding of A.I. with Business Applications prepares the students for a career in business analytics that is increasingly algorithm-driven.
Complete your degree on a schedule designed for busy professionals. Classes are fully online or hybrid -- with online classes and select in-person classes on Saturdays. The choice is yours.

Students choose 3 elective courses or 9 credits to solidify their concentration.
*Students choosing the Business Data Science concentration will also receive a Graduate Certificate in Intelligent Computing from the Jack Welch College of Business & Technology.
In the business analytics & applied AI master's program, you will also:
- Become proficient in Python, a data mining tool, along with Tableau and PowerBI for data visualization
- Strengthen your skills in mathematics, including statistics and the development, critique and use of statistical models
- Graduate prepared for a career in the rapidly growing STEM field, where employment demand and salaries are high
- Study probability theory, statistical analysis, numerical methods, computation and simulation methods and more
Dual Degree Program
Students apply to the Bachelor’s-Master of Science in Business Analytics & Applied AI (MSBAAI) 4+1 Dual Degree Program as incoming freshmen and are admitted directly into the graduate program at the same time as their admission as undergraduate students. Students in the MSBAAI Dual Degree Program earn a bachelor’s and Master of Science in Business Analytics & Applied AI in five years. Students complete the bachelor’s degree in the traditional four-year time frame and complete one year of graduate study in the MSBAAI program.
STEM Designated Program
This is a STEM-designated program, which means you will be trained in areas of technology and math that are in high demand with U.S. employers. This program allows international students with F1 visas to extend their OPT in the U.S. by 24 months after graduating (36 months in total).
Career Outcomes
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that analytical job roles are growing rapidly. The growth expectations for various jobs in the data analytics field between 2023 and 2033 are much higher than the average. In addition, the median pay of $99,410 for a Management Analyst is also much higher than other business-related jobs.
According to a 2024 Wavestone report, 82.2% of data leaders in the Fortune 1000 companies state that their organizations were increasing their investment in data and analytics. Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), in their 2024 Corporate Recruiters Report state that employers project a larger share of hiring for data and business analytics graduates than other disciplines. Thus, there is an exceptional demand for graduates with skills in business analytics.

You may have heard of Python and tried to learn on an online platform such as Coursera or Udemy but could never grasp the concepts or the codes. You are not alone. It can be hard to learn coding without a hands-on approach. At SHU, we are committed to providing an applied learning experience for you with engaging faculty and classroom learning assistants (CLAs).
You can start with the graduate certificate and use the credits towards your MS in Business Analytics & Applied AI if you so choose. The three graduate certificates are:
