In the chemistry dual degree program, students can pursue various academic tracks that lead to success in the fields of research, industry, education, medicine or academia.
At Sacred Heart University, students can earn their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry in just five years, saving time and money.
Dual degree students are guaranteed admission to the Master of Science in Chemistry program provided they continue, as undergraduate students, to meet program-specific criteria to progress into graduate program enrollment. They would earn the Master of Science in Chemistry degree in one year of graduate study, versus the typical two-year timeframe to earn the graduate degree separately.

Criteria to Progress to the Master of Science in Chemistry Program
Students admitted to the dual degree program must continue, as undergraduate students, to meet program-specific criteria in order to progress to enrollment in the MS in Chemistry program:
- Successful completion of the bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular & Cellular Biology or Biology with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Students must earn a grade of C or better in all major courses
Students Biology or Molecular & Cellular Biology must complete the following prerequisites with a grade of C or better:
- General Chemistry
- Organic Chemistry
- Biochemistry
