This course explores various cultural identities, stories, and social justice issues through literature. It emphasizes underrepresented voices by examining texts-including fiction, non-fiction, film, poetry, drama, and essays-in their social, historical, and cultural backgrounds. The aim is to foster critical thinking, empathy, and a nuanced understanding of human experience. Possible topics include borders/borderlands, intersectionality, postcolonialism, diaspora, identity, and literature from marginalized groups. Prerequisite: Take FYS or FYWS 125
