This course explores social justice and sustainable development and the intricate relationship between humans, society and the natural environment. Through class discussions, readings, and field experiences in Costa Rica, students will gain a better understanding of what sustainable development is and how it can address global challenges related to conservation, economic development, and human displacement. This course includes a one-week trip to Costa Rica during Spring Break.
