Program for High School Students

Are you a forward-thinking, future-focused high school junior or senior with exceptional academic accomplishments? Sacred Heart welcomes you to participate in and earn credit for college-level courses through our Taste of College program.

Additional Program Details

• Students will receive three college credits after successful completion of a course
• Taste of College students are limited to 3 credits per semester and may take no more than 12 credits total
• A special reduced tuition fee is in effect for this program, the registration fee is $100 per credit
• Course offerings vary each semester
• Students are eligible for any in-person first-year, 100 or 200 level courses in a subject area of your choosing, that do not require any prerequisite courses.
• Taste of College students are only eligible to take on-campus courses
• The program is open to a limited number of students and the Registrar's Office reserves the right to limit the number of Taste of College students that can enroll per class
• Any special consideration for course placement will be at the discretion of Undergraduate Admissions and the Registrar's office

Here's how:

Complete a Taste of College application

• Upload your high school transcript(s) to your applicant portal or have one sent to SHU from your high school(s)
  • Unofficial or official versions will be accepted
• Obtain and upload one letter of recommendation to your applicant portal

Search available course options on SPA, Sacred Heart's online Student Planning & Advising platform, to determine your course of choice.

• See an alphabetical list of all current subjects offered
• Select a subject to view classes available or narrow your search by entering the subject in the search box
• Use the filters on the left of the results page to further assist you in identifying the class you wish to take and the availability

We review applications on a rolling basis up until the first day of a new start term.

Next Steps

• You will be notified of the status of your application by email
• If your application is accepted, you will then be instructed on how to register for your course of choice
  • Any special consideration for course placement is at the discretion of Undergraduate Admissions and the University Registrar
  • The Registrar reserves the right to limit the number of Taste of College students per class
  • The Registrar reserves the right to disapprove of a student's class choice(s)
• Once registration is complete, you will receive an email detailing next steps to access course and institutional information as well as a billing statement in the mail

For Lifelong Learners

Adults 62 years of age or older may enroll in college courses on a seat-available basis. The cost is a reduced tuition rate of $100 per credit; a maximum of six credits may be taken at this special rate.
