The Early Decision Welcome Home Program: Our Commitment to You

At Sacred Heart University, “Welcome Home!” isn’t just how we greet you, it’s how we treat you. The Welcome Home program is a special four-year experience designed exclusively for Early Decision students at SHU. It begins with the $1,000 Welcome Home Grant, a one-time award to honor your choosing SHU and continues with unique academic and experiential advantages that last throughout your college journey.

When you choose SHU through Early Decision, you’re not just committing to us, we’re committing to you. If you have visited and interviewed at Sacred Heart (schedule your appointment if you have not yet done so) and determined that SHU is your first choice, there are many reasons to apply Early Decision.

Special benefits for students admitted to SHU Early Decision

  • $1000 Welcome Home Grant for your first year at SHU
  • Priority course registration every semester
  • One free intersession course at SHU (valued at approximately $2,000)
  • Guaranteed double room option during your first year
  • $1000 Study Abroad Grant towards future study at SHU's campus in Ireland
  • Early notification of your admission decision

The Welcome Home program at SHU is more than a one-time benefit; it's our ongoing promise to support you through every step of your SHU journey.

How to Apply Early Decision

To apply for Early Decision (binding application) submit an application by the appropriate deadline and include the Early Decision Contract:

  • November 15: Early Decision I application deadline
    • Decisions will be posted on December 1 & commitment is required by January 15
  • January 15: Early Decision II application deadline
    • Decisions will be posted on February 1 & commitment is required by March 1

While Early Decision is a binding contract that commits students to enroll upon admission to SHU, we will not hold you to the contract if you and your family determine that enrollment is not financially feasible or if you are not admitted to your first choice program.
