Intramural Staff

As a member of the Intramural staff, you will be expected to pitch in and help create a winning experience for your fellow students. It is imperative that you are upbeat, positive and solution oriented. Referees must have some playing/coaching/refereeing experience and be comfortable making calls in a game setting. Inexperienced players will be assigned score and managerial duties as they train to become a referee.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all individuals are signed in prior to game time.
  • Be knowledgeable of all Intramural sports rules and be able to explain them to teams
  • Maintain control of the game at all times by enforcing good sportsmanship.
  • Ensure the safety of all fellow Intramural staff and participants.
  • Oversee Open Gym hours, distribute equipment.

Expected Hours

Weeknights, 6:45pm-10pm and some weekend afternoons; total hours depend upon award amount and class schedule.

Job Requirements

  • Positive & outgoing personality
  • Comfortable talking to and engaging with people
  • Ability to manage, direct, orchestrate large groups of people
  • Referees need a base knowledge of a variety of sports rules (experience refereeing, coaching or playing is helpful)

Crossfit Staff

We are looking for students to manage open gym hours each week. Our staff is responsible for enforcing the rules and policies of the gym as well as monitor our members and equipment in the gym.

Responsibilities

  • Light cleaning and organizing of equipment
  • Tracking gym usage while encouraging safe exercising techniques

Expected Hours

Morning, night and weekend hours are available.

Job Requirements

Experience with Crossfit is preferred but not required.

Weight Room Monitor

Work-studies for the Pitt Center and CWC fitness areas will play an integral role in making sure that the gym remains organized. Work-studies will be responsible for assisting the Graduate Assistants in monitoring the weight area.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor weight room area
  • Clean equipment in the weight room area
  • Reset racks, machines, weights to their designated spots
  • Collaborate with Strength & Conditioning coaches on cleaning duties for the day

Expected Hours

Flexible based on work-study award amount.

Job Requirements

This job will require you to be active/hands on during your shift & collaborate with the Strength & Conditioning coaches. Work-study students must be:

  • Responsible and professional
  • Positive and resourceful
  • Willing to clean and be hands on during their shift

Front Desk Staff

The Pitt Center front desk staff position is a customer service oriented role. The primary function of the Front Desk Attendant is to monitor and assist all visitors of the William Pitt Athletic & Convocation Center. By actively greeting each visitor, checking for proper identification, answering phone calls, you will satisfy the visitors needs.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all persons entering the Pitt Center
  • Ensure all students, staff and members swipe their ID cards upon entering
  • Contact Public Safety or 911 in case of emergencies (building alarms, medical, fire, etc.)
  • Direct individuals/groups to Pitt Center offices, restrooms, or other campus buildings
  • Notify coaches & Pitt Center staff when visitors arrive
  • Answer Telephone
  • Give directions to the campus over the telephone
