Student Office/Data Assistant
Students in this position are responsible for performing general office duties and assisting in the support of University Advancement programs. Basic knowledge of word processing programs, spreadsheets, email platforms and other communication tools. Projects and tasks will include performing database inquiries and entering, updating and cross referencing personal and SHU data into the database. Also creating, revising and/or updating various departmental spreadsheets and templates, gathering and collecting information.
Responsibilities
- Creating/Revising/Updating various departmental spreadsheets and templates, gathering and collecting information from Databases, other departments, etc.
- Perform database inquiries: Entering and updating personal and SHU data into database & excel files
- General other duties as assigned which may include alumni research, assistance in event planning, inter-department projects etc.
Job Requirements
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Organized, excellent work ethic, timely, reliant and efficient with strong attention to detail
- Work independently (after training period) and take initiative to problem solve when necessary
- Handle highly confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion

Expected Hours
Hours per week are determined on work-study award amounts and are available from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday - Friday

Annual Giving & University Advancement Special Projects Work Study
This position is a great opportunity for a student(s) to learn the ins and outs of alumni relations, event planning, marketing, communications, and fundraising.
Location
West Campus, West Building, Section G
Responsibilities
- General administrative duties including answering and returning phone calls
- Assist with event preparations, including email communications and social media content development
- Print, fold, and stuff large mailings or other Advancement communications
- Enter information into the departmental database
- Assist with stewardship events and SHU’s annual Giving Day
- Strong drive to work and complete required tasks
- Passion to work events and represent SHU at certain functions
- Ability to multi-task and complete other office related assignments
Expected Hours
6 hours per week
Student Office Assistant - Parents & Family Giving
Assist with general office tasks, including word processing, managing spreadsheets, and using email platforms. Prepare event materials such as nametags and table tents, support virtual meetings with tasks like Zoom setup and management, and create or update spreadsheets and templates for Parents & Family Giving. Gather and organize information for various projects and reports.
Responsibilities
- Great attitude, team player, sense of humor
- Working knowledge of word processing programs, spreadsheets, and email platforms
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team
- Familiarity with Zoom is a plus
