- Add/Drop
- Declaration of Major
- Withdrawing from a class
- Change Major
- Completing Meeting forms after each student meeting
- Delivery of exams
- Contributing to Student Success social media
- Contributing to upkeep of Success Center spaces
Training & Development
- Required to attend one training session at the beginning of each semester
- Scheduled meetings with supervisor
- Must create a Sacred Heart Zoom Room account

Pre-Health Social Media Intern, Office of Pre-Health Advising
Pre-Health Advising works with pre-health students in preparation for graduate work in professional schools such as medical (MD, DO and Podiatry), dental, veterinary, pharmacy, optometry and physician assistant schools. The Social Media intern is someone who has interest and experience in creating digital content for social media. This role would work with Pre-Health Advising to create, form, and post social media content for the office. We are seeking a creative mind who is willing to work on projects that inform, educate and entice viewers on platforms such as Instagram and Tiktok, and throughout campus.

- Matriculated as a full-time, sophomore, junior or senior pre-health student at SHU
- Integrate content into multiple social distribution channels such as Instagram, TikTok, and throughout campus
- Create and deliver content with accurate information and timing
- Other tasks as assigned
Ability to:
- Be creative and original, yet respond to feedback from Ellen and Belle
- Create digital assets for social channels
- Juggle multiple tasks with accuracy and efficiency and work well with all staff and students
- Learn and share knowledge with others. Basic understanding of pre-health experience at SHU is preferred
Skill in:
- Organization, spelling and grammar, self-starting and the ability to work independently and accept feedback
- Working with Microsoft Office 365 apps and programs, including SharePoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word. As well as working with social media specific tools and apps such as Canva, Instagram, and TikTok
- SHU knowledge- "how to be a pre-health student at SHU"
- Writing, proofreading, and editing

Pre-Health Peer Mentor
In this role, Peer Mentors (PMs) serve as informed, kind, and knowledgeable overall resources to new students in pre-health programs at SHU. Through peer mentoring, assisting, and overall support, a Peer Mentor’s role is to help pre-health students adapt to campus and answer any questions they may have about their coursework, campus, etc. A successful PM develops interpersonal relationships with and between pre-health students and conducts themselves in a professional manner, while maintaining their own good academic standing. PMs model positive behavior consistent with the mission of the University, community life and academic success, and are a resource for students with questions about SHU and the pre-health path in general. The goal of a Peer Mentor is to enhance student access to academic support services, teach students about academic support technology, and encourage fact-based decision making for students. Peer Mentors are NOT professional advisors and will not be advising students on registration or coursework. Those selected to become a PM will be notified on April 15th.
Requirements
- Attend spring 2024 meet & greet/training: April 25th from 5:30-7 p.m. in SC 102
- Attend summer check in training held virtually: August 20th at 4 p.m. online
- Attend summer/pre-fall training August 21-23 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. August 21st is mandatory. The others are highly encouraged but can be excused under certain circumstances
- Hold an office hour once a week in the Office of Pre-health Advising for any student walk-ins
- Assist the office with any tasks, events, or marketing when needed
- Mentor 15-20 student mentees: Mentors must reach out at least twice a month to mentees, and attempt to meet with them once a month (outside of office hours)
- Applicants must be current sophomores or juniors (will be juniors and seniors in fall 2024)
- Applicants will be notified of a decision on April 15th
Responsibilities & Skills
This role will involve significant interaction with Pre-health students at Sacred Heart. Persons in this position must:
- Attend a one-hour office hour weekly in SC 124A
- Be responsible and professional individuals, even though you are working with the student on a peer level
- Possess strong verbal and writing skills
- Understand what it means to provide quality customer service- listening to student, addressing their concerns in a timely manner, responsiveness, no phones while interacting with students unless necessary
- Be willing to be a member of an energetic team and a representative for Pre-health Advising
- Attend trainings as listed on the application
