Au Pair Program
Sacred Heart University proudly supports au pairs in achieving their language learning goals through our specialized ESL Program.
The Au Pair ESL Program offers:
- Flexible classes for all English proficiency levels
- Comprehensive focus on grammar, reading, writing, listening and speaking
- Programs designed to meet the required instructional hours for J-1 visa compliance

Au pairs have the option to choose between part-time daytime classes or evening classes.
Part-time Daytime Classes
Flexible class options – choose one or more from the schedule below.
- Schedule: 5 hours of instruction per week
- Duration: 8-week term (40 total hours)

Effective Communication Strategies
- Focus: Strengthen written, spoken and interpersonal English skills
- Application: Skills for academic, business and social contexts in the U.S.
TOEFL Preparation Class
- Focus: Build academic-level English skills to excel in TOEFL exams
- Features: In-class practice tests for reading, listening, speaking and writing sections
