CHP Passport for Success
The first year of college can be challenging. We're here to help you get you back on track after being placed on academic probation or academic warning.
The CHP Passport for Success program provides support to first-year students facing academic obstacles. Guided activities include understanding study skills, utilizing time management strategies and exploring career opportunities. Students will use campus resources and participate in one-on-one advisement to support their academic growth.
Academic Probation & Academic Warning
To remain in good standing, you must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or higher. First-year CHP students receive an academic warning when their GPA is 1.8-2.49 for HS and EX majors; and 1.8-2.9 for CMD majors. Any first-year student with an overall GPA of 1.1-1.79 will be place on academic probation. Any first-year student whose cumulative GPA is 1.0 or below will be dismissed from the University.
Return to Good Standing
First-year CHP students on academic probation who improve their GPA above a 2.0 will return to good standing. Students must meet the criteria to progress in their major by the end of their first academic year. The requirements for each major are as follows:

Components of Passport for Success
The CHP Passport for Success Program is designed to support first-year students at risk of being placed on probation in their first semester. Students enrolled in the program will meet with their academic adviser four times and will receive three email newsletters with helpful resources to help them achieve academic success. Additionally, they will be asked to complete four activities and offer brief reflections designed to practice the skills reviewed with their academic adviser. During this program, students’ academic success and personal development is our primary goal.
