Clubs & Organizations
English Club
The English Club is committed to fulfilling students' interests in literature and writing. The club facilitates academic discussion and all kinds of creative writing. It also hosts periodic open mic nights, and in 2018 release its chapter book "Roots," which features a selection of short literature written by members of the club. This club is open to all full-time undergraduate students, not just English majors.
“One of the core beliefs of Sacred Heart University is that we are a family, and no group exemplifies that more than the English Club. The English Club allows us to explore and improve upon our creativity in a welcoming, friendly environment where we can meet others who are passionate about reading and writing. Even though we come from a wide range of majors, we all have a love for books and want to share that love with the rest of the Sacred Heart community. Whether we discuss books we’ve read or simply stay quiet and write, the club meetings never fail to disappoint and always help inspire us to continue reading and writing.” - Jill Amari Class of 2023
La Hispanidad
La Hispanidad seeks to provide a place where students can reconnect or stay connected to their Hispanic heritage. We aim to share the richness of our culture with the Sacred Heart community by hosting campus wide events. Providing service to the Hispanic local Community, while fundraising to support local charities.
"La Hispanidad is a club where you can connect with and learn about people from not only Hispanic backgrounds but also non Hispanic backgrounds. I enjoyed being able to put on events on campus that would help teach the Sacred Heart Community about our culture. As well as our most important event Social Justice Week where we alongside other clubs and departments can bring awareness to social justice issues." ~Brian Brown, Class of 2021

"Her Campus has given me a chance to express myself in a creative way, allowing me to share my piece of mind with a world of writers I admire. Though English isn’t exactly my major, I love being able to use my words to make a difference in the lives of others. Specifically, Her Campus Sacred Heart allows me to belong to a group of passionate & thoughtful community of writers. It has crafted my experience at college to be the best it can be." ~Maddy Miller, Class of 2023

Italian Club
The SHU Italian Club is a place for people of Italian ethnicity to connect with others of the same background, while it also welcomes people of other ethnicities to learn about Italian culture. In this club, we will dive into various aspects of Italian culture, such as food, music, dance, language, games and more. Throughout the year, we will be executing various activities to learn more about Italian culture.
“The SHU Italian Club is a fun-filled environment for anyone who is interested in the Italian culture, and wants to meet other Italian or non-Italian students. We are highly immersed and motivated for educating our members on the Italian culture, as well as coming together to have a good time with fellow students on campus. We pride ourselves on fun, learning, and a campus community as a whole.” ~Taylor Clomiro, Class of 2021
