The President’s 63 is a Senior Year Experience for the Pioneer Journey featuring a series of challenges and dinner conversations to give graduating SHU seniors one more chance for intentional reflection and courageous civil discourse about their Pioneer Journey. We are looking for 63 engaged SHU seniors from all across campus to attend five dinner conversations and complete five challenges connected to the five pillars of the Pioneer Journey: knowledge, faith, integrity, service and community.

Conversations

We’ll all gather for a free dinner at 63’s on Tuesday nights before Spring Break beginning on January 28. Each event will feature a 63-minute program with a guest speaker and conversations at your table facilitated by faculty and staff.

Challenges

There is no “homework” for this experience, but there will be some required activities. Before the first dinner, participants will write a short reflection on how a course in the foundational core connected to their major and future plans. Participants will also attend an event on campus, participate in service, have a 15-minute one-on-one conversation with an on-campus mentor and work together to blaze a trail for a future Pioneer.

In addition to dinner, participants who complete the P63 program will receive an honor cord and special recognition at graduation.

Apply

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until January 10, 2025. Note that early applicants are more likely to be accepted, so apply now! If you have questions, email Charlie Gillespie, Ph.D. at gillespiec4@sacredheart.edu.
