Welcome new Pioneers and new SHU families!
Our mission is to provide support and resources for the academic and social transition of new students and their families. We want you to be successful! Orientation, Welcome Week and the First-Year Experience (FYE) provides connections and programs throughout your first semester to help you make the most of your experience.
Orientation and the First-Year Experience assist in the successful transition for students through meaningful programs and events, resources and initiatives that foster an inclusive community and provide opportunities for growth.
During these programs, you will begin to build a network of resources that will help you to start your SHU journey on the right path. With the assistance of orientation leaders and FYE assistants, students will get an overview of academics, student life and the resources available for a smooth transition to the SHU community.
By the time you complete Orientation and the First-Year Experience program, you will be on your way to becoming a successful Pioneer!

My time as an OL and FYE Coordinator helped me grow into my potential to be a leader. The orientation program is truly one of my favorite things I have been part of at SHU, and to me is unlike any other leadership experience offered on campus. The amount of trust, time, and energy placed in us to represent the SHU community is truly comparable to a professional role. Knowing that I have helped shape new leaders and helped First-Year students integrate into our community makes me feel that my time in the program was impactful and well spent.
