Leadership: A Work of Heart LLC
As first-year students embark on their college journey, Leadership: A Work of Heart Living & Learning Community aims to provide first-year students with a foundation for learning, growth and leadership development.
The goal is to empower students to become the next generation of campus leaders by helping them understand leadership as a force that unites communities toward a common vision. Through this initiative, students will connect with areas of campus life, exploring leadership opportunities within and outside their academic fields. Students will not only find their path in college, but also will be inspired to make meaningful contributions that resonate far beyond their undergraduate years.
Goals & Outcomes
Throughout their college experience, students will dive into a comprehensive exploration of leadership, beginning with self-awareness. By engaging in personal assessments and workshops, they’ll uncover their unique leadership styles and learn how to apply them in diverse settings. This self-discovery process will empower them to identify leadership opportunities across campus—whether in clubs, student government or community initiatives—and develop actionable plans to pursue these avenues.
Students will also craft their personal brand and mission statement, crucial tools for navigating their academic journey and their broader life ambitions. This exercise encourages students to reflect on their core values, setting the stage for intentional leadership inside and outside of the classroom.
By the end of their first year, students will have not only a clearer sense of their leadership potential but also a concrete plan for how to engage with and shape the future of their campus and beyond.
