Vickie Knight is a Registered Nurse with a passion for informatics. As an ICU nurse, she was the unit’s technology liaison assisting with the implementation of the clinical documentation system. Vickie became the hospitals Nursing Informatics Specialist creating and managing the Clinical Informatics Department. Vickie utilized the Systems Development Life Cycle to implement multiple clinical systems and “Smart” medical equipment including Biomedical Device Interface between Philips Physiological monitors and Cerner iBus.
After a brief period as a project manager, Vickie returned to the bedside managing Perioperative Services. She continued her hand in informatics by implementing an endoscopy documentation system and serving as a subject matter expert for the clinical system. Adding to her skills, Vickie has taught Fundamentals of Clinical Informatics and Electronic Medical Records at Norwalk Community College and currently teaches HINF 622 Information Analysis & System Design.
In addition to teaching Vickie is the Director of Nursing at an outpatient endoscopy center and utilizes informatics in her everyday practice.
