Dr. Stella Michael-Makri is a seasoned educator and mental health professional with over 18 years of teaching and clinical experience. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS) in the State of Georgia. She earned her doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from Texas A&M University – Commerce and her Master’s in Community Counseling and Human Development from Texas Woman’s University.

Dr. Michael-Makri has held several leadership positions, including serving as program coordinator, director, and department chair at various institutions. In these roles, she successfully guided program development, mentored faculty, and spearheaded accreditation efforts, consistently earning recognition for her contributions to excellence in education. Her dedication to teaching has been acknowledged with multiple awards, including the Teaching of Excellence and Teaching of Online Excellence Awards.

With extensive experience teaching and mentoring students, Dr. Michael-Makri emphasizes critical thinking, professional growth, and cultural awareness in her pedagogy. She brings her clinical expertise into the classroom, drawing from her work with individuals and families on diverse mental health concerns.

An active scholar, Dr. Michael-Makri’s research focuses on grief and trauma recovery, cultural competence in counseling, and the integration of technology and AI into education and mental health services. Her publications reflect her commitment to advancing mental health advocacy and fostering inclusivity in both educational and clinical settings.
