Dr. Lisa Cullington focuses on supporting and strengthening academic programs that promote inclusive excellence for all learners. Dr. Cullington started her career as a teacher and administrator of middle, high school, and adult English as a Second language programs in urban and suburban settings in New York and Massachusetts. She holds a M.Ed. in Secondary Education from Boston College and a Ph.D. in Urban Education, Leadership, and Policy Studies from the University of Massachusetts. In her doctoral research, she focused on the intersections of race and gender in media discourse for superintendents in large, urban districts. Dr. Cullington's research interests include women in educational leadership, collaborative learning pedagogy, and recruitment and retention of women in Computer Science and Engineering.

Before joining SHU in 2023, Dr. Cullington served as a principal investigator and educational researcher for the National Science Foundation S-STEM grant at SUNY Farmingdale, where she oversaw an undergraduate research program. She has previously taught education leadership theory, second language acquisition theory and methods, introduction to social science research and educational policy at the College of the Holy Cross, SUNY Farmingdale and the University of Massachusetts.
