About the Endowed Scholarship
The Lisa Powell Memorial Endowed Scholarship was created in 2016 by The Entrepreneur Source, a Southbury-based firm. The scholarship honors Lisa Powell, former employee of The Entrepreneur Source and daughter of Founder, Terry Powell. Lisa was known in the community for her generosity and dedication to others. This scholarship recognizes her passion for promoting women entrepreneurs and supports a full-time undergraduate female student enrolled in the Jack Welch College of Business minoring in Entrepreneurship.

"I have taken two business law classes that sparked my interest in going to law school after graduation. I will be taking a gap year to study for my LSAT and hope to begin law school in 2020. I would love to practice environmental law because protecting our environment is extremely important to me. In the long run, I hope to one day run my own surf shop where a percentage of the net profit goes to ocean conservation. Sacred Heart has not only prepared me, but has also inspired me to go after all of my dreams. Outside of the classroom, I love being a Welch Mentor and a Mind Your Business Pre-Fall student leader. These positions allow me to welcome freshmen to SHU and lead them through their first year. Words cannot express how truly grateful I am for your donation! Sacred Heart University was my dream school in high school, and because of your donation I have been able to accomplish so much during my four years at SHU. Sacred Heart University has provided me with the tools and knowledge needed to advance in my career path. I am extremely excited to see where life takes me after graduation, and am eternally grateful for your donation."
