Hometown: Stratford, CT
Major: Accounting

"As a member of the SHU community, I love how helpful the faculty is here. Being a junior, I have had many professors who have been very cooperative, kind, and knowledgeable over the course of my college career. I have also made many friendships with students who I have met here that will last a lifetime.

My professional goal is to become a certified public accountant. My accounting major plays a large role in helping me take the steps necessary to achieving this goal. I also intend to declare a major in finance. I believe that these two degrees will work in conjunction for a very successful career.

I enjoy helping my community by volunteering at the Sterling House Community Center. I am a tutor for children in first through sixth grade. It is rewarding knowing that I can help them become better students.

I would like to thank you for believing that I was worthy enough for this scholarship. I am grateful that someone recognized the potential I have both inside and outside of the classroom. I appreciate your generosity and feel honored to be a recipient of this scholarship. Your contributions give college students like me more opportunities."

Hometown: New Milford, CT
Major: Nursing 4 Year

"I love that Sacred Heart gives me so many resources to help me succeed as a student and as a person. Sacred Heart has given me a second family and is a university that makes me feel valued and important.

My professional goal is to become a registered nurse. I am currently a certified nursing assistant working with geriatric patients and a volunteer at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in the Pediatric ICU. I am interested in pediatrics and emergency room work.

Outside of the classroom I enjoy being a student ambassador and an orientation leader. As a student ambassador I am able to give potential students a tour of the University and share my personal experiences. As an orientation leader I work with incoming freshman students to guide them through their orientation and the first couple of weeks at school.

I would like to thank you for your generosity in helping me with my college education. Your assistance does not go unnoticed, and I am extremely grateful for your scholarship."
