About the Scholarship
The Dr. John W. Brookes Memorial Scholarship was established in memory of John W. Brookes, a member of the math and computer science faculty at Sacred Heart University. This scholarship assists students who demonstrate academic excellence and financial need.

"One of my favorite things about SHU is that everyone is welcomed with open arms, which truly makes it a home away from home and a family. SHU also has so much to offer for all of its students in order for each person to be involved and feel that they belong to something bigger than themselves. This community gives everyone the opportunity to have the most enjoyable college experience and to be successful in the future.
When I graduate, I hope to work as an actuary in a big corporation. Being a math major will help me learn everything I need to know in order to prepare myself for this field. I also want to minor in actuarial science to gain more insight into the specific job I am interested in pursuing.
My favorite activity to do outside of the classroom is dance, which is why I love being a part of the Dance Ensemble here at SHU. I have made so many great friends through this program who share in the same love for dance as I do and it helped me get more involved.
I am so thankful for theDr. John W.Brookes Memorial Scholarship and am incredibly honored that I have been chosen as a recipient of this award. This acknowledgment is truly rewarding and validates that my hard work is being recognized. This gift is so encouraging towards us math and computer science students who work so hard to achieve our goals. Thank you again for the generosity and support that this organization has provided to me. I look forward to becoming a donor to this scholarship as well so I can help other students receive it in the future."
