"Something that always struck me about Sacred Heart, and being a member of its community, is everyone's willingness to help me here. Starting from orientation I had various faculty ask me if I needed any help, had any questions about my program, or just wanted to know more about Sacred Heart. I thought that this would end after orientation was over, but I was in fact, mistaken. After three years, I have yet to meet someone at Sacred Heart who did not go out of their way to help me with whatever I needed.

In the future, I hope to become a physical therapist. Right now, I am on the 3+3 DPT track at SHU. I am majoring in exercise science and I have an honors minor. With a major in exercise science, I know that I will be well prepared for the doctorate program. I not only have a much more extensive knowledge about the body and how it adapts to exercise, but I've been given countless opportunities to work with patients on my clinical skills. All of the exercise science labs that I have taken were designed so that we, as students, get to hone our clinical skills, and interact with mock patients so that by the time we get to our desired professions we are much more confident in our abilities.

I think the experiences that I really value most outside of the classroom are all of my community service opportunities. I am the secretary for the Pre-PT club, and I am also involved in the Exercise Science club, among various others. These two clubs have given me countless opportunities to volunteer in and around the Sacred Heart community. I volunteered at Special Olympics, an elementary school for children with special needs, the Jewish Senior Services Center and more. With each new experience that Sacred Heart has offered me I've been able to meet new people and further my education in the exercise science field.

I cannot thank you enough for being so generous in awarding me this scholarship. I feel I have been given the greatest opportunity to learn more in my chosen field, and further prepare myself for the future that I have planned. Thank you for your part in helping me continue to grow into the best version of myself!"

"I love the sense of togetherness at SHU. Everyone makes it so easy to be a part of something.

They have helped me find a career path I want to take to help the most people.

I very much enjoy being part of the Club Football team and the Men's Rugby team.

I would like to thank my scholarship donor for the very generous scholarship, which will help fund my academic growth and helps me to want to make a difference in the lives of others."

Major: Communications; concentration in Public Relations and Advertising

"I love the opportunities, people and experiences I have been exposed to while being involved in the SHU community. I have been able to meet people who have made impacts on my life and will be in my life for years to come. My goal is to live in New York City working on productions sets with as many people as possible with different opinions and perspectives, and to travel often. My declared major in Communications with a concentration in Public Relations and Advertising has helped me meet professionals in my field who have verified that this career path is right for me. I am very involved in my sorority, Zeta Tau Alpha. I fell in love with our philanthropy, which is breast cancer education and awareness, and decided to take action and get involved. I have held positions such as Director of Philanthropy, and I currently am the Vice President. My family has been affected by breast cancer, so to be able to work towards a cure is an amazing feeling. I want to thank you for providing me with an opportunity to grow and prosper in this community. Your generosity has inspired me to get more involved, find my passions, and explore them. SHU was my dream school, and your help has aided me in getting my education."

Major: Nursing

"What I love about SHU is all the friendly smiles you see while walking around campus. I also love how everyone is willing to help each other out and that the academic opportunities are also endless. My professional goals are to help others as I have been helped through my numerous medical issues. My major in Nursing is allowing me to express my passion for helping others and studying the human body at the same time. I love building relationships with my patients and watching them throughout their journey. Outside of the classroom, I am the historian of the Student Nurses Association, a Make A Wish volunteer, and a sister of Chi Omega. Giving back to my community has always been a big part of my life. I will be attending the two week summer program in Dingle Ireland to study BioEthics and I am looking forward to that experience. I would like to give an immense thank you to my donor. Your very generous scholarship is greatly appreciated by me and my family. Your donation is helping me to continue my education of healing the sick and for that I am extremely thankful."

Major: Chemistry

"The professors in the Chemistry department have made my time at Sacred Heart wonderful! They are so willing to help and put me on a path to success. There is always someone you know in a class or a familiar face walking down the hall. Outside of school I work on a horse farm and teach riding lessons. I also have my own horse named Sherlock, who is my escape from the stresses of school and work. I hope to become an equine research pharmacist. I really enjoy chemistry, and pharmaceuticals is a direct application of the field. Being a regular pharmacist is an option, however, I prefer to benefit the animals that have shaped me into the person I am. I am incredibly grateful for this scholarship because it allows me to focus less on financial worries and more on my schoolwork. It is easy to work so much to make money for school that there isn't much study time at the end of the day; this scholarship takes that stress away!"
