As Sacred Heart University's largest college, the College of Arts & Sciences is central to the SHU experience. All undergraduate students benefit from the College’s distinctive approach, grounded firmly in the Catholic Intellectual Tradition and the liberal arts. The College houses SHU’s core curriculum, which reflects the University’s mission of fostering intellectual inquiry, lifelong learning, global engagement, civic and social responsibility, human dignity and the common good.

The College of Arts & Sciences is innovative and practical in our approach to curriculum and teaching. Students regularly engage in hands-on learning experiences, such as project-based learning, field study and undergraduate research. These experiences build mentoring relationships: Students regularly co-present and co-publish with their faculty mentors, a fact that sets them apart when they enter the workforce. Our pre-health advisement program, with over 300 current students, is another compelling
example of distinction.

The College takes a leadership role not only in using new digital technologies such as virtual reality but also in developing and creating our own unique virtual reality experiences for students. We prepare students for their lifelong Pioneer Journey by fostering critical and creative thinking
and problem-solving.
