Eligibility
This housing selection process is for current students who will be full-time undergraduate students in fall 2026 and who have had no more than three previous years in housing. Students who are in a 3+3 or 3+2 program who will be entering their fourth year of housing are eligible for this process.
Housing Deposit
Students wishing to participate in the undergraduate housing selection process must pay a $500 housing deposit by Friday, March 6, 2026, to secure their ability to participate in the housing selection process. This is not a billed item; you must pay independently from your regular bill to participate in the housing selection process for fall 2026.
Your student account must be in good standing for your deposit to be approved. Review your account or contact Student Accounts at SAO@sacredheart.edu or 203-371-7925.
Payments can be made to Students Accounts in the following ways:
- Pay Online*
- Check via mail*
- Addressed to: Sacred Heart University, Student Accounts, 5151 Park Avenue, Fairfield, CT 06825
- Remark in the memo of the check: write "Housing Deposit" and include the student’s SHU ID number.
- In person at the cashier’s office in the west building at West Campus | 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday
*Preferred options
Regardless of how a student is expecting to choose or be assigned housing, each student must individually deposit to be eligible for selection.
Late payments received by March 23, 2026, will be eligible to match with roommates, however, the students will not receive a lottery number. Any deposits received after March 23, 2026, will only be eligible for final selection and will not be able to match with roommates via our online housing process.
The $500 housing deposit is non-refundable if a student selects, is assigned housing during the housing selection process or withdraws from the University.
Housing Portal
The housing portal will be available in mid-March for students to complete the housing registration, match with roommates and ultimately select housing. Students eligible for the housing selection process will receive an email when the portal is available to complete the above steps.
Classification
On the portal homepage, you will see “Your Information” on the left. Review your classification (rising sophomore or rising upperclassmen) as this will determine who you are eligible to live with and where. If you believe you have been classified incorrectly, contact our office.

Sophomore Residency Requirement
As is published in the Student Handbook, current residential freshmen in the class of 2029 are required to live in Sacred Heart University housing. All students must still put down the deposit in order to be eligible to select into housing through this process. Students who do not select housing may be assigned after the process is complete.
Disability Housing Accommodations Requests
Disability housing accommodations at Sacred Heart University can be considered for a student with an identified disability that significantly impacts one or more major life functions.
If you are a student who requires consideration for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), housing accommodations (i.e., medical conditions, mobility issues, etc.) please follow the steps listed on the Office of Student Accessibility website. You must submit a new request each year, regardless of your previous accommodation, assignments or requests.
The deadline to submit an accommodations request is Friday, February 20, 2026. Late submissions will not be reviewed until late June.
All information or inquiries regarding this process are available through Student Accessibility at accessibility@sacredheart.edu.
Anticipated Housing
The available housing for students is based on a student’s housing classification. We anticipate the following options to be available during housing selection (subject to change):
- Housing for rising sophomores (traditional freshmen who started at SHU in fall 2025)
- Bergoglio Hall – 4 residents
- Bowman Hall – 4 residents
- Cabrini Hall – 5 residents
- Christian Witness Commons – 5 & 6 residents
- Frassati/Wiesel Halls – 4 residents
- Mother Teresa Hall (select pods) – 4 residents
- Oakwood Gardens (select apartments) – 2 residents
- Scholars Commons – 8 residents
- Housing for rising upperclass students (traditional students who started at SHU in fall 2023 & 2024)
- Oakwood Gardens – 2 & 4 residents
- Pioneer Gardens – 3 residents
- The Ridge Apartments – 2, 4, 5 residents
- The Ridge Townhouses - 5 residents
More information about all SHU residence halls can be found on our website. Included is information regarding building amenities as well as a virtual tour where applicable.
Roommates
Students are only eligible to choose roommates if they pay the housing deposit by the posted deadlines. Roommate groups can only consist of students of the same housing class and equal the size of the desired housing. For example, if you want to live in a Scholars eight-person apartment, your roommate group must contain eight people who are all rising sophomores.
Students can choose to live with individuals of any gender through our co-ed roommate matching process. Students who opt into co-ed roommate matching select as a group into available housing for their class year. More information regarding co-ed roommate matching can be found on our website.
Room Selection Dates
General online housing selection will take place in April. Specific dates are TBA.
