Sacred Heart University’s IT Procurement team ensures that technology purchases are cost-effective, secure and aligned with the institution’s academic and operational goals. We support the acquisition of IT hardware, software and related services while maintaining compliance with University standards, vendor contracts and cybersecurity policies.

In partnership with departments across campus, IT Procurement helps streamline technology purchasing and ensures the University’s evolving needs are met with supported, standardized equipment.

Laptop Program Support

IT Procurement manages Sacred Heart’s Laptop Program, which ensures that all students, faculty and staff have access to approved devices backed by University support services.

Students can purchase laptops through SHU’s authorized vendor portal, with all listed models pre-approved and bundled with a four-year accidental damage protection plan. These devices are eligible for support at the PioTech Center.

Faculty and staff are issued laptops as part of a standard four-year refresh cycle. Full-time faculty select their devices each spring; staff participate in the Laptop Rental Program.

Standard Hardware Purchases

Faculty and staff can request SHU-approved monitors and peripherals through SHU eBuy, the University’s procurement system. Please visit the Connection PunchOut within SHU eBuy to browse standard devices and bundles.

Custom Hardware Requests

For non-standard technology needs—such as lab equipment, high-performance computing or research-related tech—submit a request through the IT Self-Service Portal. The IT Procurement team will review for compatibility, security and sourcing feasibility.

Software Agreement & Contract Review

All software purchases or license agreements—regardless of cost—must be submitted through the IT Self-Service Portal for review. This ensures licensing, data protection, accessibility and compliance standards are met before purchase or approval.

Asset Management

The IT Procurement team maintains the lifecycle records of University-owned IT equipment—from acquisition to retirement. While primarily managed internally, faculty and staff may reach out with questions about equipment status, ownership or refresh eligibility.
