Why’d You Choose SHU?

Sacred Heart provided me with the opportunity to gain my independence and discover the right career path.

What Do You Do Now?

I am a Speech-Language pathologist certified in California. I primarily work with children both in home and in educational settings. I evaluate and treat children with a variety of disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder, Speech and Language Impairments, Other Health Impairments, Articulation Disorders, Fluency Disorders, and ADHD. Treatment involves utilizing techniques to improve skills in the areas of articulation, receptive and expressive language, and social communication. As a speech therapist, I also provide education and coaching to families to maximize the child’s independence within their daily routines.

Advice to Underrepresented SHU Students

Be present and discover who you are! As much as there is a lot of pressure to find the “right” path, first understand and pay close attention to your skills and what you enjoy doing. Best wishes for staying present and discovering more!
