Why’d You Choose SHU?

From classroom sizes to the number of students campus wide, I chose Sacred Heart because it felt like a small community. SHU was also very close to my family, but far enough that I can stay on campus and have the full college experience.

What do you do now?

I am currently a bilingual news reporter for WFSB Channel 3 Eyewitness News. It’s a television station that covers the state of Connecticut.

Advice to Underrepresented SHU Students

Always be proud of your roots! You will feel like your people are not represented throughout many times in your career, but we need to continue to change that by pushing the younger generation to dream big and believe in themselves. Whether it was at SHU or in the newsroom, I have either been one of a small group or at times the only one who’s Latino. But that shouldn’t stop you from achieving your dreams. Instead, it should be the reason to keep going. Grab your seat at the table!
