Human Resources invites faculty and staff to serve as Organizational Transformation Fellows in advancing initiatives that strengthen Sacred Heart University’s workplace culture, organizational agility and sense of community.

The Fellows Program provides a platform for faculty and staff leaders to shape projects that support institutional priorities in employee engagement, learning, workforce development and organizational change. Fellows will collaborate with the Associate Vice President for Organizational Transformation (AVPOT) and colleagues across the University to advance innovative practices, foster supportive environments and contribute to the long-term vitality of our community.

Fellowship Structure & Benefits

The scope of the fellowship is university-wide organizational transformation. Each fellow is responsible for working with the AVPOT on research engagement and projects that promote organizational transformation.

  • The fellowship term is two years, from August-May of each year
  • Fellows will report to the AVPOT and designee, the director of workforce learning innovation
  • The expected average weekly time commitment is six hours
  • Fellows will facilitate university-wide education initiatives, complete a cohort project, engage in an individual project and engage in professional learning
    • Organizational Development & Change – projects that enhance institutional agility, improve systems or foster healthy workplace culture.
    • Employee Engagement & Belonging – initiatives that strengthen collaboration, recognition and cross-departmental connection.
    • Learning & Development – design or support of training, mentoring or professional growth opportunities.
    • Workforce Planning & Talent Development – projects addressing retention, succession planning or emerging workforce needs.

Fellows will receive the following benefits during their term:

  • A $3,000 compensation stipend per academic year
  • Professional learning program
  • Access to some fiscal support for cohort initiatives
  • Collaboration and networking opportunities with campus leaders

Fellowship benefits end if a person vacates their fellowship position or if their employment with SHU ends.

Eligibility

  • All full-time and exempt faculty and staff in good standing are eligible to apply
  • Applicants must have successfully completed one year with SHU at the point of submitting their application

Application Submission Process & Deadline

Applications must include the following attached to the application as a single PDF document:

  • Two-page personal statement describing:
    • Past experience in leadership, organizational change, employee engagement or related work
    • The applicant’s goals for contributing as a Fellow
    • The individual project area(s) of interest and rationale
  • Current CV or resume (five pages maximum)
  • Letter of support from your supervisor indicating that you as the applicant are in good standing and that the supervisor understands the terms of the fellowship

The application period is closed and will reopen in the spring of 2027.
