Guidelines for Co-sponsorship of Campus Events

In addition to sponsoring its own lectures and events, the Hersher Institute for Applied Ethics co-sponsors on-campus lectures and events that are organized by other programs and departments and connect to the institute’s mission of ethics education.

If the institute decides to co-sponsor an event, it typically provides up to $250 toward the honorarium for a guest lecturer. Funds can be requested for other event expenses. Larger amounts would typically occur with a collaboration between the institute and another program.

Sacred Heart faculty who seek the Hersher Institute’s financial support for co-sponsorship should send a request by email to the co-directors (Brian Stiltner, stiltnerb@sacredheart.edu and Christine Susienka, susienkac@sacredheart.edu) briefly describing the following:

• The nature of the event and its planned date
• Total cost of the event and the requested amount, as well as whether the funds are for an honorarium or other expenses
• Other programs/departments that are co-sponsoring or will be approached for support
• How this event relates to the institute’s mission to enhance ethical reflection and engagement throughout the University community

Requests should be made at least two months before the event. If your program wants to explore a larger collaboration with the Hersher Institute for Applied Ethics, contact us to make an appointment to discuss it.
