The Jandrisevits Learning Center (JLC) provides learning support services at no additional cost for all SHU students.

By enhancing students’ skills and knowledge, JLC tutors support course objectives and help each student develop as a lifelong learner. Academic support can play an instrumental role in student success by building self-confidence and self-awareness. As part of the JLC’s commitment to fostering self-directed learning, JLC tutors see each student as a unique learner and strive to offer learning strategies tailored to each student’s needs. The JLC offers students a range of Learning Labs across a variety of subject and skill areas. Make an appointment early in the semester and begin to learn better and learn smarter!

Mission

The JLC is SHU’s central academic support service and is open to all SHU students. Our mission is to provide academic support to strengthen student learning and empower every student to develop as self-directed learners. JLC tutors see each student as a holistic learner, paying attention to the importance of cognition as well as to the emotional aspects of learning. The JLC contributes to the SHU mission of appreciating each student’s unique qualities and preparing the student for lifelong learning.
