University Appoints New Associate Vice President
Kristen Murphy-Mengold brings more than 20 years of experience to SHU
Sacred Heart University is excited to welcome Kristen Murphy-Mengold, the new associate vice president for University advancement & alumni engagement. Murphy-Mengold’s extensive experience in development and related fields will propel SHU’s alumni involvement to the next level.
Murphy-Mengold will work closely with the advancement department’s leadership team to enhance, create and implement programs related to alumni engagement, development, donor relations and events. “I look forward to connecting and building meaningful relationships with the University’s alumni, parents and friends to enhance their SHU experience,” she said.
“As we further development and scale our efforts in telling our incredible Sacred Heart University story, Kristen’s experiences in and outside of the higher education space will be incredibly valuable to our entire University advancement team,” said Paul J. Sutera, senior vice president of University advancement.
Murphy-Mengold graduated with a bachelor’s degree in speech communication from Syracuse University and holds an MBA from Boston College. She has more than 20 years of experience in development and alumni relations in higher education and the nonprofit sector, including positions at Harvard University, MIT Sloan School of Management, Columbia Business School, Boston College, Quinnipiac University School of Law, Iona College, the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation and, most recently, Special Olympics Connecticut.
“The newly created associate vice president position and attracting Kristen Murphy-Mengold is a win for SHU,” Sutera said. “Kristen has spent her career building and maintaining relationships that lead to long term philanthropic commitments. These relationships and her leadership skills will be invaluable for Sacred Heart as it enters the next phase in its University life cycle. Sacred Heart and Kristen are aligned in their mission and vision to educate a student’s mind, body and spirit.”
Murphy-Mengold resides in Southbury with her family.
