Program’s score based on quality, impact and effectiveness

Sacred Heart University’s online master’s in clinical mental health counseling program has ranked fifth in the nation in a CounselingPsychology.org report.

CounselingPsychology.org is devoted to providing educational resources for aspiring counselors and psychologists. It determines its rankings through a multifaceted assessment process that comprises several key criteria to evaluate a program’s overall quality, impact and effectiveness.

Rebekah Byrd, SHU’s associate professor of clinical mental health counseling, hailed the recognition. “The mental health counseling field has been growing exponentially, and that is expected to continue,” said Byrd. “We’re grateful to know that our program is being recognized for its dedication to preparing our students for this growing field.”

The online master’s in clinical mental health counseling program is committed to excellence and prepares students to become leaders who can make a difference in the global community. Importantly, mental health professionals assist individuals who may be experiencing significant life stress and presenting problems such as: low self-esteem, job loss, depression, substance abuse, grief, anxiety, family violence, relationship issues, eating disorders and other mental health-related challenges. Students focus on prevention, resilience and well-being. They are equipped with the skills needed to recognize every person’s dignity and worth.
