Four New Faculty Members Join Farrington College of Education & Human Development
College builds variety of expertise
The Isabelle Farrington College of Education & Human Development at Sacred Heart University has four new professors to fuel future students’ teaching careers.
The new staff joins a college that offers research-validated programs, including the nation’s first educational leadership doctorate focused on social, emotional and academic leadership and a certificate of advanced study in STEAM (science, technology, engineering and math).
Maureen Ruby, endowed chair and associate professor
Teaching responsibilities: Foundations in social, emotional and academic leadership
Personal fact: Ruby is also a dentist.
Kimberly Hellerich, assistant clinical professor
Teaching responsibilities: Teacher supervision, evaluation and professional development, educational leadership internship
Personal fact: Hellerich loves to practice speaking French when traveling to some of her favorite places, including Paris, Belgium and Québec City.
Katherine Cunningham, associate professor
Teaching responsibilities: Introduction to language and literacy, children’s literature
Personal fact: Cunningham swam in the Trans Tahoe Relay last year, which is a race across Lake Tahoe in California. Her team included her husband and their swimming teammates from college.
Sally Drew, associate professor and program director of special education
Teaching responsibilities: Children’s literature, writing for academic purposes
Personal fact: Prior to becoming an educator, Drew studied broadcast journalism. She wanted to be a sports broadcaster because her uncle was an NFL coach.
