Business Professor Releases Guide on Strengthening Diversity in the Workplace
Janice Gassam’s latest book provides tips for improving corporate culture
On Juneteenth, Janice Gassam, assistant professor of management for Sacred Heart University’s Jack Welch College of Business & Technology, released her new book Dirty Diversity: A Practical Guide to Foster an Equitable and Inclusive Workplace for All.
Dirty Diversity is a guide for organizations looking to strengthen their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts. According to Amazon, “Dirty Diversity includes strategies for effective conversations on challenging topics, tips for creating workplace training sessions and workshops and cost-effective ways to improve the corporate culture. Gassam reveals her success stories as well as not-so-successful stories from her consulting experiences, and what was learned along the way. This book was written with employees, practitioners and organizational leaders in mind.”
Prior to SHU, Gassam was a visiting assistant professor at Baruch College, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in industrial organizational psychology. She also worked as an adjunct professor at SUNY Old Westbury.
In addition to teaching, Gassam conducts corporate workshops on diversity and inclusion through a company she founded, BWG Business Solutions. She is a contributing writer for Forbes.com and has spoken at TEDx and the Association for Talent Development among others.
