Admission Requirements

The Sixth-Year Degree in Special Education has one start term per year in the fall semester.

Certified teachers applying to the Sixth-Year Degree in Special Education program must hold a master's degree from an accredited institution.

• Graduate Application
• Non-refundable application fee
• Copy of official teaching certificate
• Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to your abilities as a teacher
• Official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended
• Current resume
• Essay: In 1-2 pages, discuss your career goals as they relate to earning your cross endorsement in special education through Sacred Heart University’s program

Candidates will be contacted to schedule an interview with the program director once all application materials are received.
