Responsibilities

  • Provide a minimum of 30-32 hours of physical therapy services in affiliated clinics as assigned.
  • Assist in entry-level physical therapy program instruction 6 hours/week or as assigned in the role of laboratory instructor, tutorial leader, and/or clinical instructor in the Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy.
  • Participate in Advanced Orthopaedic Physical Therapy course work offered by the Doctoral Program in Physical Therapy: 3 credits/semester for each of the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters.
  • Participate in weekly Clinical Mentorship.
  • Participate in Case Conference and Journal Club discussions.
  • Participate in clinical scholarship activities of the Residency Program as determined by the Residency Program Director.
  • Attend regular Residency Program meetings and department activities as requested.
  • Other related activities as assigned.
  • Complete probationary period of 3 months.

  • Competitive salary for 12 month period, September 1 through August 31, as arranged through the clinical affiliate.

  • Reimbursement for APTA Clinical Instructor Training upon successful completion of the course.

  • Residents encouraged to obtain individual professional liability insurance with additional consulting/education coverage with partial reimbursement from the Residency Program. 

Typical Weekly Schedule

  • 24-30 hours of clinical practice.
  • 6 hours of classroom teaching in the SHU DPT program.
  • 3 hours of clinical mentorship.
  • 3 hours of advanced orthopaedic coursework via online format and supplemented by weekend lab intensives throughout the semester.
  • 1 hour of Journal Club or Case Conference discussion.
