Certified Teachers applying to the Farrington College of Education & Human Development must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
Students must complete a course in special education prior to being recommended for certification in Connecticut. This is not an admission requirement. If not already completed, it may be completed during the program, and it may involve additional cost.

- Graduate application
- Non-refundable application fee
- Copy of your official teaching certificate
- Two letters of recommendation from individuals who can attest to your future potential as a teacher
- Official transcript(s) from all colleges and universities previously attended.
- Current resume
- Essay: In 1-2 pages, discuss your career goals as they relate to becoming a literacy specialist through Sacred Heart University’s M.Ed.
