Responsibilities
- Provide a minimum of 24-32 hours of physical therapy services at Mozaic Senior Life (MSL)
- Assist in entry-level physical therapy program instruction as assigned in the role of laboratory instructor
- Participate in coursework offered through Sacred Heart University: 3-6 credits/semester for each of the fall, spring and summer semesters
- Participate in weekly clinical mentorship
- Participate in Case Conference and Journal Club discussions along with the Orthopedic and Pediatric Physical Therapy Residents
- Participate in clinical scholarship activities of the Residency Program as determined by the Residency Program Director
- Attend department activities and meetings as requested
- Provide educational in-services to the rehabilitation department at MSL
- Participate in an administrative project in collaboration with the rehabilitation director and administration at MSL
- Participate in wellness and prevention activities in the community as scheduled by the Residency Program Director
- Other related activities as assigned
Salary & Benefits
- Full-time employment by Mozaic Senior Life
- Residents will receive an adjusted salary
- Residents do not carry a full-time case load in order to allow time for didactic coursework, research, presentations and projects
- Residents are eligible for full-time benefits through Mozaic Senior Life during their employment period
- There are tuition requirements for the residency experience. All classes must be paid initially by the resident, but all didactic work completed as a requirement of the residency will be reimbursed by Mozaic Senior Life upon successful completion of each course immediately following each semester.
- APTA Clinical Instructor Training prior to receiving a student in the final rotation of the residency
- Graduate student status/privileges at Sacred Heart University
Typical Weekly Schedule
- 24-32 hours of clinical practice
- 4+ hours of clinical mentorship
- 1 hour of Journal Club or Case Conference discussion
- 4+ hours of coursework via online format
- Classroom teaching in the SHU DPT program (3 hours scheduled on specific weeks throughout the 12-month period)
