Accepted Student Requirements

All students enrolling in the MSAT program must complete the following requirements and submit proof of completion to CastleBranch prior to July 1 of the respective cohort enrollment year. Instructions for completion of the CastleBranch requirements will be provided by the program to enrolled students via email.

Criminal Background Check

All admitted students planning to enroll in the MSAT program must consent, submit to and satisfactorily complete a criminal background check (CBC) before registration for courses as a condition of matriculation. This check is completed via CastleBranch. The College of Health Professions’ Criminal Background Check policy can be viewed in the MSAT Program Student Policy & Procedure Manual.

Medical Clearance & Health Status Verification

Physical Examination

All students enrolling in the MSAT program must complete a physical examination conducted by an MD, DO, APRN or PA-C no more than 12 months prior to the start date of the program. The following forms must be completed as part of the physical examination:

Immunization Verification

Both vaccination history and verification of current immunity to certain health conditions are required to complete clinical education requirements for the MSAT program.

  • Vaccination history can be documented using the SHU Student Health Form completed during the physical examination
  • Proof of current immunization must be provided via lab reports (i.e., titers) for the following conditions:
    • Varicella (Chickenpox)
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • PPD (Tuberculosis [TB])
    • Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis (TDaP)
    • Hepatitis B

It is highly recommended that students enrolling in the MSAT program address vaccination requirements at least 30-90 days prior to the start of the program to allow sufficient time to determine if boosters are needed and titers drawn to confirm immunity requirements are met.

Individuals who do not wish to be immunized must submit a declination for state-required vaccines form for review by the Student Health Center.

Declining vaccination may preclude the ability to engage in fieldwork required to complete the program.  Students may accept vaccines at any date; however, if delayed, it may impact the ability to matriculate in the program. Sacred Heart University will bear no responsibility for failure to complete the program or graduate due to vaccine declination.

Please note that the health requirements for the MSAT program outlined above are in addition to the medical information required by Student Health Services. Completion of the MSAT program requirements does not exempt you from submitting health forms to Student Health Services as required by the State of Connecticut. In addition to completing the program’s requirements via CastleBranch, students must also submit the appropriate required information to Student Health Services via the SHU Student Health Portal.

Students are responsible for all costs associated with:

  • Registration with CastleBranch
  • Receiving a physical examination, immunizations, titers and boosters
  • Criminal background check
