Sacred Heart University’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program equips you with the skills, real-world experience and professional credentials to thrive in today’s classrooms. With rigorous graduate coursework, immersive classroom practice and the optional full-year Teachers@Heart Residency in select partner districts—complete with mentorship, financial support and paid tuition.
In just 42 credits, you’ll gain the pedagogical insight and practical expertise to teach elementary (PK–6) or secondary (4–12; biology, chemistry, English, general science, mathematics, social studies/history or Spanish) students while earning Connecticut educator certification. Offered at SHU’s Fairfield campus and Griswold location, the MAT program is designed for flexibility to fit your schedule.
