Take the opportunity to become a teacher or advance to an administrator role through graduate programs offered at Sacred Heart University’s Griswold location.

All courses are taught at the Griswold location, conveniently right off Exit 22 of I-395. Learn from our full-time faculty members, area superintendents, principals and master teachers, who bring up-to-date understanding of today's classrooms.

Program offerings at Sacred Heart - Griswold

Master of Art in Teaching (MAT) with Initial Teacher Certification

Elementary (1-6) and Secondary (7-12, in English, Math, History/Social Studies, Biology, Chemistry, General Science or Spanish)

Candidates in the MAT program may also take advantage of our Teacher Internship Program. Candidates work in an area school system during the day, and take courses in the evenings. The school district agrees to cover the cost of 36 graduate credits of the 42 credits required to complete the program.

CT Intermediate Administrator Certification (092)

Gain the skills to become a successful school administrator with the Intermediate Administrator Certification (092) and a further Certificate of Advanced Study in Social, Emotional & Academic Learning (SEAL) for Social Justice Leadership. Courses are taught on weekday evenings. 

CT Superintendent Certification (093)

The 15-credit course can be completed in one year and is taught by highly successful superintendents of schools to address the demands and opportunities of the current superintendent role.
