SHU Box Office & Hospitality Graduate Assistant
This dynamic, responsible, and well-organized individual serves a number of roles necessary for the efficient management and coordination of Box Office and Concession operations, customer relations, schedules and communications for the SHU Community Theatre in downtown Fairfield. CT.
The Box Office and Hospitality GA will be responsible for working on all daily Public Interaction, Patron Services, Event coordination and Theatre merchandise and customer menus for in-person events, based at the main street, 1420 Post Road, Theatre and maintain all inventory and sales records, supporting the general online/on-site ticket sales and transactional service business of the Theatre. The position will also support theatre hospitality.
The position will assist in the day-to-day administration of the Theatre, including the basic operations required to prepare/assist in Theatre events and general facility use.
Most importantly, as this is a primary role representing the SHU Community Theatre Mission and Outreach, the Box Office/Concession Manager will be required to exhibit a genuine, enthusiastic interest in the Arts and Fairfield Community, and ability to demonstrate a confident outgoing expression of the value and attributes of the Theatre operations, its programming and Sacred Heart University.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the SHU Community Theatre Director as needed.
- Box Office responsibilities included but not limited to:
- maintain on-going and daily operations of the Box Office and Lobby, Concession Stand and Skybox Balcony Event space
- providing Patron, Donor and Customer services and online scheduling and event transactions
- Dealing with external (service providers, vendors, crew, etc.) and internal (students, faculty & staff) informational inquiries and primary-level troubleshooting and problem solving
- personnel tracking and accounting for all payments, receipts and revenues
- Design and develop basic emails and other printed/electronic office communications including social media content, website coordination updating, promotional elements and media interaction for all events.
- Use technological platforms (SharePoint, Datatel-Colleague, SHU Ebuy, and others) in support of Central Office functions and proficiency (ability) to utilize various digital design and content creation programs and applications.
- Maintain a filing and archiving system for all theater records/schedules/contacts/events.
- Coordinate the ordering, delivery and maintenance of Box Office/Concession equipment and supplies/Theatre equipment.
Knowledge & Skills Needed
- Bachelor’s degree required; previous experience with ticketing service, Hospitality Services and Business protocols.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and people skills and the ability to work independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organizational and accounting expertise.
- Proficiency in computing skills and typical office-related programs (Microsoft Office Suite/Excel/PP)
- Adherence to all requirements of confidentiality. Prior work in a theater/entertainment venue setting preferred with genuine interest in the Arts, Community and Education.
- General knowledge of operations of basic office equipment (copiers, fax machines, etc.)
- Professional attitude, presentation, and appearance. Problem solving Phone/Online presence.
- This position requires a positive attitude, excellent personal skills, an orientation toward team success and strong organizational skills building the systems, protocols and best practices of a start-up business. Innovative thinking, constructive contribution and general perspective that we have an enormous opportunity reopening this Century old movie theater as a new state-of-the-art Cinema, Performance and Education center that restores the Crown Jewel to the town square. Having fun is a prerequisite.

Unusual Working Conditions
Position is based at the SHU Community Theatre office. Normal schedule will be weekdays from 2 - 10 p.m. Additional hours and weekend work may also be required, dependent on Theatre events.
