Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) Graduate Assistant

Assist with support of procurement, assets and reporting needs of the OCIO staff.

  • Full-time (35 hours/week)
  • Compensation: $32,508

Dates

Immediately - June 30, 2025

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support the tracking of all IT assets used on campus
  • Assist in the preparation and tracking of university-issues devices
  • Aid in data entry operations and provide user training for the management of assets in the Information Technology Service Management (ITSM)
  • Assist the OCIO team with tickets submitted through the ITSM
  • Help maintain and respond to the OCIO teams email accounts
  • Assist in creating reports that reference key performance indicators
  • Assist with user surveys to assess computer needs and user satisfaction
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge & Skills Needed

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a computer-related discipline
  • Proficient technical background with an ability to give instructions to a non-technical audience
  • Customer-service focused
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Travel required as needed

Unusual Working Conditions

Must be available to work certain weekends/evenings at various times throughout the year.

Technical Support Services Graduate Assistant

To assist the full-time Factory staff in their daily functions. 

  • Full-time (35 hours/week)
  • Compensation:
    • $7,500 tuition waiver
    • $6,150 stipend

January - June 30, 2020

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist full-time Factory Technicians in all areas of support where needed
  • Daily monitoring and updating of open and pending tickets
  • Assist technicians with following up on closed and/or open tickets to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Work with the Technical Support Services Supervisor:
    • to broaden the Call Center knowledge base on SharePoint
    • on Special Projects

Knowledge & Skills Needed

  • Experience of MIS and IT Help Desk environment
  • Strong communication skills (reading, writing and speaking)
  • Excellent customer service and organization skills
  • Microsoft Office application suite
  • Working knowledge of desktop and operating systems including Windows and MacOS
  • Experience in AV and multimedia a plus

Call Center Graduate Assistant

To maintain the staff and operation of the Call Center daily functions. 

  • Full-time (35 hours/week)
  • Compensation:
    • $15,000 tuition waiver
    • $12,300 stipend

Dates

Two-year position beginning July 1, 2019

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation of the Call Center
  • Recruit and train Call Center representatives
  • Maintain daily schedule of personnel
  • Daily monitoring and updating of open and pending tickets
  • Assigning and directing Call Center staff and their activities in conjunction with the Technical Support Services Supervisor
  • Ensure that problems are controlled and escalated appropriately. Ensure that the first level trouble ticket calls are answered and resolved properly and in a timely manner
  • Responsible for ensuring all Call Center work orders are closed out
  • Responsible for following up on closed and/or open tickets to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Work with the Technical Support Services Supervisor to broaden the Call Center knowledge base on SharePoint
  • Act as a conduit between the various areas of IT and the Call Center to escalate the service provided by the Call Center as Level 1 and in some instances, Level 2 service providers so that the Call Center can be unified, effective, and first tier service responders

Instructional Technology Graduate Assistant

Dates

July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020

Primary Role

To assist the University community in the use of various technology tools including the University’s learning management system, remote conferencing solution, lecture capture solution, and cloud storage solution. The position will be required to troubleshoot level II issues for the various technologies.

  • Compensation: $15,000 tuition waiver, $12,300 stipend

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain the course management system, MySHU portal and integrated software products adopted by the University
  • Assist instructors in managing course materials within the learning management system and provide support in the determination and implementation of course appropriate technologies and media solutions
  • Support and maintain the cloud storage solution adopted by the University
  • Create, document, schedule and conduct workshops for the Sacred Heart University community relating to technology and academia
  • Develop marketing plans around tool adoption and develop the PR materials needed
  • Facilitate and support the application/adoption of technology to support learning and campus related events
  • Generate and continuously improve the criteria used for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities
  • Schedule lecture capture recordings
  • Develop and maintain resources and guides for technical support assistance
  • Perform other related duties as required

Knowledge & Skills Needed

  • Strong, effective and engaging communication skills; written and verbal.
  • Proficient knowledge of a broad range of electronic learning technologies.
  • Experience with both Mac and PC operating systems and their common software.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and manage project schedules.
  • Works well both independently and collaboratively.
  • Advanced hands-on knowledge of MS Office products, graphics software, multimedia applications, various internet applications and web development tools.
  • Service-minded and self-motivated.

Data Architect Graduate Assistant

Primary Role

Responsible for building, maintaining and deploying reports and dashboards.

  • Full-Time (35 hours/week)
  • Compensation: $27,300 (tuition waiver or stipend)

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain operational reports in SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Design, develop and maintain dashboards in PowerBI
  • Assist Data Analyst with level 1 troubleshooting of reports and dashboards
  • Manage ticket queue and gather requirements for report development
  • Assist in researching new technologies, trends and best practices
  • Perform other duties related to those listed above

Knowledge & Skills Needed

  • Basic understanding of data analytics, SQL or dashboard technologies
  • Computer Science or Business Analytics programs (preferred)
  • Knowledge of the Python programming language (preferred)
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
